Service Programs

The Office of Student Leadership and Service is here to help you discover the power of service by promoting civic engagement and active global citizenship. If you want to make a difference in the lives of others, you have come to the right place!

In general, here are some ways in which we can help you. We provide:

  • Guidance on volunteer opportunities, service projects and events.
  • Resources on service-related events and relevant service issues.
  • Opportunities for campus organizations to collaborate on service projects.
  • An annual Fall Volunteer Fair with representatives from area community agencies.
  • Cross-cultural service opportunities.
  • Information about service-related student conferences.

Below is a list of Meredith-related service opportunities you may be interested in joining. Additional service programs, such as Campus Kitchens and Sisters United, are offered by the Office of the Chaplain.

Meredith Opportunities Include:


MeredithREADS is a partnership with Motheread, Inc. through which volunteers go to elementary schools to work on literacy skills one-on-one with local children. All volunteers are trained and use the Motheread curriculum. The time commitment is approximately one hour a week for two semesters. 

SPLASH! into Service

Splash is a one-time service experience that will give you the opportunity to meet new students, have fun and make a difference in the world. 

Service Mini-Grants

The Office of Student Leadership and Service now provides funding for service projects. Students, faculty/staff, classes, or student organizations are eligible to submit an application for up to $100 in funding for a service project. Mini-Grant Application

Community Impact Award

The Community Impact Award will be given annually to the Meredith student who has exhibited an exemplary level of dedication to civic engagement and who has had a deep and lasting impact on Meredith College and the community. She will have strongly embraced Meredith's mission of global citizenship and service to others. This student will consistently have been a voice for community action in the classroom, in campus organizations, and in her world. Nominators will be asked to complete a nomination form and a letter of recommendation.
